CEAT Research Scholars

The College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology (CEAT) offers a unique opportunity to a few entering freshmen who are talented and research-minded. Students selected will gain experience in research opportunities rarely given to college freshmen.

Freshmen students in their chosen field will work side by side with graduate students under the close supervision of a research professor. These students will become an integral part of a research/design team. this invaluable experience will enhance the participant's future selection for industry employment or graduate school acceptance across the United States.

Special Benefits

  • A $800 stipend awarded during the freshman year.
  • Housing in Parker Honors Residence Hall or Engineering Center in Kerr-Drummond Residence Hall.
  • Visitation to industry research facilities
  • Research lab assignment.

Selection Criteria

  • ACT composite of 31 or above, or an SAT of 1350 or greater, and an ACT Math sub score of 31 or above (SAT Math 700).
  • High school GPA of at least 3.80.

  • Class Rank
  • Technical Clubs/Organizations Involvement
  • Record indicating work experience in a technical field

Selection Process

Initial selection of freshmen to be considered for the CEAT Research Scholars program will be screened from the OSU Freshman Scholarship Applications. Students subsequently will be invited by CEAT for an interview with research faculty members to determine final selections. Initial screening of applicants will take place shortly after February 1, with interview sessions to follow in 2-3 weeks. Those students who are selected to be a part of this highly specialized program will be notified no later than April 1.
